About the Program

The Tulsa CARES Rx Health Prescription Drug Program can help pay out of pocket expenses on prescription co-pays, medical co-pays, and lab co-pays associated with the prescribing of the following medications: HIV, HCV, and PrEP. Program participation may also allow you access to other agency programs like mental health and nutrition.

Program Eligibility

Individuals participating in the Tulsa CARES Rx Health program must:

• Maintain private health insurance
• Contact Tulsa CARES and enroll in the program
• Obtain a prescription and agree to regular lab work and medical visits as directed
• Fill related prescriptions at Couch Pharmacy (LGBT-friendly; free local delivery)

More About PrEP

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) is when people at risk for HIV take daily medicine to prevent HIV. When taken daily, studies have shown that PrEP reduces the risk of getting HIV from sex by about 99%.

As part of our work in delivering social services to those living with HIV, Tulsa CARES is also deeply committed to educating the community and helping prevent the spread of the virus. For those individuals participating in the Tulsa CARES PrEP Program, we aim to:

• Educate you about the benefits of PrEP
• Connect you to a local prescriber who can determine if PrEP is right for you
• Connect you to our local, LGBTQ+ - friendly pharmacy partner
• Ensure that your medication is paid for through prescription assistance programs
• Help cover all or a portion of your lab work and medial co-pays
