Housing

When basic needs are not financially met, individuals can view healthcare as a luxury item. In order to maintain good health, people need food, transportation, stable and affordable housing and medical care. The housing program at Tulsa CARES assists clients with rental assistance when they are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. It also helps with utility assistance for those in need.

In December 1999, Tulsa CARES purchased a four-unit apartment complex to help clients with housing assistance. The apartment has recently been renovated and future plans for the housing assistance program include creating safe and affordable housing for families with children, and a guest house for clients and/or their families who live out of town, but travel to Tulsa for medical care.
