Food+Health

Tulsa CARES provides medical nutrition therapy from an on-staff registered dietitian and nutritional supplements to clients that are nutritionally at risk.

Tulsa CARES also offers nutrition information classes (PEP) with limited enrollments.
In the summer, Tulsa CARES hosts a Farmer's Market with fresh produce throughout the summer months. Also, with the increased knowledge of food, Tulsa CARES is striving to make the food pantry a place where nutritionally sound and healthy foods are the standard.

Food Pantry

Tulsa CARES Food Pantry serves more than 50,000 meals each year between the Congregate Meal Program and grocery shopping at the Food Pantry.

Tulsa CARES began its food pantry in July of 1997 with a little more than $10,000 in funding from the Tulsa Area United Way. Today, the food pantry has grown to become one of Tulsa CARES’ most successful programs with more than $200,000 in funding annually. For every $10 received, Tulsa CARES provides $15 worth of services. The food pantry makes food available to clients in a shopping-like setting. Enabling clients to make choices in the foods they receive fosters dignity and self-respect.

In addition to the food pantry, Tulsa CARES hosts a weekly Congregate Meal Program that gives clients a nutritious meal in a warm, supportive and social environment. Beyond nutrition, the Congregate Meal Program gives clients an opportunity to interact with peers and Tulsa CARES staff.
